Assets

Overview

An **asset** is the thing Fencio governs, such as a coding tool. Most commands act on the asset you have selected, so choosing one first is usually the only setup you need.

List assets

List the assets you own, with their state:

fencio assets list

Choose an asset

Select the asset later commands act on. Accepts a name or an identity:

fencio assets use claude-code

Register an asset

Connecting an app registers its asset for you. To add one up front, give its type and a name:

fencio assets register claude-code --name "Alex Chen (laptop)"

Devices

See the machines connected to an asset. Defaults to the selected asset:

fencio assets devices
fencio assets devices --asset claude-code

Remove

Remove an asset. An asset that still holds concepts, rules or a policy is refused, and the reason names what it holds:

fencio assets remove claude-code
